Apple’s new Live Photos feature on the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus is really cool, but if you don’t want to share them as full Live Photos or just want them as stills, you can easily convert them in just a few steps.
Live Photos are being touted as one of those must-have features and we have explained how to get fairly good results with them. That said, Live Photos have a few caveats. For one, they take up a great deal more space than traditional stills. You may also not want to share the whole thing. You might simply want to share it as a still photo and discard the rest.
Converting a Live Photo to a still photo is actually a really easy process, which can be accomplished in just a few short steps.
First, open the Live Photo in the Photos app and then tap “Edit” in the upper-right corner.
Now, you’ll see your Live Photo presented as a still. This is how it will look when you convert it, which you can do by tapping the icon in the lower-left corner in landscape mode, and upper-left corner in portrait.
Once you tap the Live Photos icon, it will turn white meaning and you can then tap the “Done” button to save it as a still photo.
If you want to revert the photo back to a Live Photo, you can either tap the “Revert” button, or simply tap the Live Photos icon again and then tap “Done”.
That’s it then. Once you exit the edit mode, you can share your new still photo as you like with whomever you want and it will only be the single photo rather than the entire Live Photo file.
This means the file should be significantly smaller in size and won’t take up as much room on your device, and will thus be easier to share as well.
